Our country will also continue to strengthen its cooperation with another key partner, Russia. As you know, the Belarusian-Russian talks will be held next week.
A meeting of the leaders in Moscow has been announced, while the Union Council of Ministers will meet in Minsk. The subject for discussion will be further integration and Union programs that the governments of our countries have been working on for a long time, in fact, roadmaps for rapprochement between Minsk and Moscow. In the run-up to the summit talks, Telegram and some media outlets are speculating that these "maps are a verdict on independence," and that "Lukashenko surrenders his sovereignty".
On the eve the President stated very clearly: the position of Belarus remains the same. Yes, we are walking together, hand in hand, but as equal partners, keeping our sovereignty.
The Union construction has been underway for a long time. And there are quite a few examples where we have managed to establish close interaction. The Union is equally important for Russia and Belarus. If Belarus and Russia finally agree on all issues during the upcoming negotiations, then the Union State programs are expected to be approved at the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State. It is scheduled for late fall.
