A. Lukashenko and V. Putin discuss trade and economic component of regional cooperation

Development of Belarusian-Russian relations, military-technical cooperation, security issues and restoration of transport links between our countries were discussed by Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin over the phone this morning.

The conversation emphasized the trade and economic component. The leaders noted the positive work of the governments in the implementation of the Sochi agreements. They also discussed cooperation in the context of the sanctions. The Presidents are convinced that through joint efforts the countries will be able to overcome the emerging challenges and threats. When it comes to transport links, Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin stated that passenger air and rail links have already been established, and there are no problems in the field of cargo transportation.

The issue of lifting restrictions on the movement of citizens across the Belarusian-Russian border by road remains open.  The availability of more Belavia flights to Russia is being discussed. Special attention is paid to the southern direction: Sochi, Krasnodar and Anapa.

Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin discussed in detail the development of military-technical cooperation and security issues. The Presidents also discussed energy prices and access of Belarusian goods to Russian markets. During the conversation, the Presidents agreed on upcoming personal contacts in the near future.

Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin will take part in the plenary session of the Forum of Regions today. It's a special day of the site's work with an emphasis on scientific and technical cooperation between our countries in the era of digitalization. Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin have repeatedly stressed that the authorities of both states are interested in giving an additional impetus to the development of interregional ties.
