They arranged quick loans and entered into a leasing agreement without authorization. Today, the General Prosecutor's Office reported about mass complaints of Belarusians about the unscrupulous activities of some financial companies. There are more than 2000 people among the victims. The organizations disguised their activity as leasing. On the basis of the sales contract they used to buy, for example, a cell phone from the client. But they left the goods with the seller on special terms. Until the client pays back the debt, the cell phone is in the lease at high interest. The clients were unaware of all the nuances.
Dmitry Brylev, official representative of the Prosecutor General's Office of Belarus:
Many of them did not have a full understanding of the legal nature of such contracts, the consequences of non-fulfillment of their obligations, the amount of penalties. For example, when receiving a loan of 150-300 rubles, citizens had to pay back the amount of 1,500 to 4,000 rubles, taking into account the penalties for the minimum period of delay. The repayment schedules attached to the contracts were drawn up in such a way that the lessor would have grounds to apply penalties in any case.
According to the General Prosecutor's Office, 3 companies as a result of such business made over $ 2 mln. Among the victims there were pensioners, poor people, clients with bad credit history, people who found themselves in a difficult life situation. In relation to the founders of several companies criminal cases were initiated for tax evasion.
