First stage reconstruction of Old Castle in Grodno about to finish

The reconstruction of the first stage of the Old Castle in Grodno is about to finish. The construction and installation work on the southern wall and two towers is almost completed. The entrance gates have also got a historical look. They are going to install showcases, podiums, and multimedia systems in the restored galleries and rooms of the castle with elements of the decoration of the royal chambers of the 16th - 18th centuries. 

Yury Kiturko, director of Grodno State Historical and Archaeological Museum: "This will be an exhibition dedicated to the architecture on our Castle Hill, ranging from  ancient archaeology to the 20th century. Then there will be an exhibition of the most ancient times of the Russian Rurikovich princes and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania." 

The new exposition will welcome visitors in early June. At the same time, the reconstruction of the second stage of the old castle will begin. It  will include the restoration of the royal palace.
