Nadezhda Serbinenko: Belarusian seismologists use modern technology to catch the minor fluctuations of the earth. Their objective is to fix the bumps and inform the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ministry of Emergency Situations and colleagues - scientists and seismologists around the country. The most important equipment for seismologists is always as close as possible to the ground. The so-called geophones are placed on a special column, one and a half meter depth in soil. They can capture even insignificant oscillations of the Earth.

Information from the sensors of the Observatory and the observation point is transferred to Minsk Center of Geophysical Monitoring of the National Academy of Sciences.

Belarusian scientists have access to important seismic data from around the world. Through this contact, a strong earthquake, which can occur in Japan, South America, or in the Kuril Islands will be known in Belarus within a few minutes.

Important information specialists is transmitted to international seismological centers, in the Russian Geophysical Service in Obninsk, as well as international ones in France, Austria and the UK.
