Commemorative medals awarded to war veterans

By Ksenia Rabchinskaya: Today the Belarusian authorities presented commemorative medals to war veterans and labor veterans.

Before the holiday a special attention and gratitude is paid to the veterans. The honorable mission was performed by Deputy Prime Minister Natalia Kochanova and Minister of Labor and Social Welfare Marianna Shchetkina. For the Minister of Labor and Social Protection Welfare Shchetkina it's not even a duty, it's a privilege.

Nikolai Kurenkov veteran: "I lived through all sorts of hardships, troubles and stuff like all poor people of Leningrad, and the blockade and everything else, but never lost sense of responsibility as a defender of the motherland."

Natalia Kochanova, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus: "We are happy that today these people are still with us, and we can talk to them, we can learn first hand how they have managed to survive in those terrible hard times.

Roza Saranchina, Leningrad blockade survivor: "When the war was over, then it was a great happiness, great joy, people hugged and kissed each other, cried with happiness. It was a triumph of all the people, because they paid a too high price came this victory."

Tomorrow veterans will see another concert, this time a gift from the students.
