In the south of the country, in Brest Region they successfully grow foreign varieties of fruit. They are well adapted to the local climate.
Plums are already ripe. This season it is planned to harvest 120 tons of them. However, rainy weather does not allow taking the fruit from the branches yet. Because of the moisture, the product can quickly deteriorate.
The imported varieties of apples also do well in the south of Belarus. The taste is just as good and the price is lower. Therefore, this product makes serious competition to the imported fruit. In just one day, the pickers collect 30 tons. And, according to the agronomist, there are no problems with everyday life.
The harvest is put in boxes, and then sent to the nearby fruit storage facility, where they have created special preservation conditions. To keep the apples fresh, the oxygen is pumped out of the chambers and the rooms are filled with nitrogen. From the storehouse they take the fruit directly to trading networks, organizations, and abroad - the Belarusian apples are willingly bought in Russia. Some part of the apples is sent for domestic processing.
It will be possible to taste fresh juice from Belarusian apples in October.
