Polotsk is a special place for every Belarusian. That is where our national history and statehood were born many centuries ago. And today, promising industries are actively developing there. A comprehensive development plan has been developed in the city. It includes both the modernization of individual enterprises and the construction of new production facilities. Large-scale construction is already underway at Polotsk Fiberglass. Polotsk Dairy Plant is also expanding its range of products, and a regional complex for recycling is being created on the basis of the biomechanical plant. New production facilities naturally provide for new jobs.

Every year about two hundred thousand tourists come to Polotsk. Most people go on a kind of a tour of history including the famous St. Sophia Cathedral, Francis Skorina Heritage Museum, Spaso-Eufrosinievsky Monastery, Borisov Stone (monument of ancient epigraphy). These sites, in fact, have made the profession of a guide one of the most popular here. Dozens of agencies provide their services. This season's trend is historical quests.

At the same time, the city is undergoing large-scale reconstruction. They restored the Savior Transfiguration Church, the bridge across the Western Dvina, monuments of the Great Patriotic War. Together with EU partners, a green economy is built here. The lanterns on Polotsk streets were replaced by economical LEDs. These are the next steps on the road to a smart city.

Special attention is paid to ecology. A regional complex for recycling will be created on the basis of the biomechanical plant. The new sorting lines will unite several districts of Vitebsk Region at once. This will allow not only to abolish all mini dumps, prevent the formation of unauthorized landfills, but also to increase the efficiency of waste processing.
