Thousands of experts remind us day by day: there will be no winners in the World War III. Lessons from the sad past must be remembered. Belarus warns: we remember what it took to restore peace. Belarus celebrated the 77th anniversary of the Great Victory. The holiday of May 9 united people of different generations. People for whom peace, tranquility and boundless gratitude for a peaceful sky are not just words. Paying tribute to the generation of victors, we, Belarusians, bow our heads at monuments, take flowers to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, come to Khatyn and Borki, to remind ourselves once again and show our children the price our independence and peace came at.
We are immensely proud of the feat of arms and thankful for that Victory. Without that great day, there would not have be that country, there would not be an opportunity for us, a new generation of Belarusians, to live and develop on this land.
By tradition, Victory Square is the center of celebrations in Minsk on this holy holiday. About 20 thousand people gathered in a memory procession from Oktyabrskaya Square to the Victory Monument. People of different ages came with portraits of their grandfathers and great grandfathers, their heroes, and what's particularly encouraging, a lot of very young Belarusians. It is a sacred duty for our President and his family to be with them this day and to thank the veterans for their incredible feat of arms.
The speech of the Belarusian leader was very powerful, which is how experts and political analysts assessed it. In essence, it is a message to those who live in a fog of lies and deceit, who are deprived of the opportunity to know the truth about that terrible war. This is a message on behalf of the people who won! Today individual politicians are doing everything possible to make the heroism of the Soviet people be forgotten. In the streets of European cities the slogans of marching SS veterans are heard louder and louder. Victory Day is outlawed there, monuments are being destroyed. But the Belarusian people remember the feat of the liberators!
