By Natalia Tarasyuk: The new development of scientists from the mechanization centre of the Academy of Sciences – an automated feeding system for animals - is already being used at a pig complex in Gomel Region.

Sergey Yakovchik, the General Director of the National Centre for Agriculture Mechanization of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus:

"Only in recent years, the manufacturing plants sold products worth 105 million dollars. This is a sizeable amount. Today, the Centre is addressing the problems of mechanization of the process of feeding pigs and of creating a microclimate in pig production."

At the moment, the Belarusian pig-breeding complexes have over 2.5 million pigs. Over the past 4 years, 16 new farms appeared in the country. By 2020, another five complexes will be built, which will obviously need advanced equipment.

The developments of the Centre are in high demand in Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. In total, the portfolio of scientists contains about 170 developments for all areas of agriculture. In monetary terms, the import-substituting effect is estimated at about $ 10 million.
