Working on an ordinance on state regulation of the sale of tobacco and electronic cigarettes is a progressive step that fully meets the recommendations and provisions of the WHO Framework Convention. This opinion was voiced today by Batyr Berdyklichev, the head of the country's World Health Organization office. The main initiatives of the document are to equate electronic cigarettes with tobacco cigarettes and to increase the number of smoke-free zones. Everyone can get acquainted with the project on the National Legal Internet Portal of the Republic of Belarus. Until 12 June, they accept proposals. Today, it also became known that it is possible that the project will be adopted as early as this year.
According to statistics, at present, every 3rd adult in Belarus smokes, which is 14% less than 15 years ago. Annually, the state spends 1% of its GDP on the treatment of diseases caused by tobacco use.
