Family upbringing and support among key national priorities of Belarus

Today, the world is celebrating the Child Protection Day. Every day 206 babies are born in Belarus. Family education and support are among the key national priorities. Brest region is leading by the number of multi-child families. In total, almost 354 thousand children are brought up in such families, which is about 20% of the total number of minors. There are almost 1.9 million children under 18 in Belarus. The system of state care is designed in such a way that all children were given equal support regardless of their parents' income. In addition, families with many children can accumulate family capital in the amount of 22,500 rubles. Today more than 83 thousand such deposits have already been opened. There is also targeted social assistance. Its amount was raised by the recent Presidential Decree "On social support to certain categories of citizens". The total length of service and pensions for those who gave birth to four or more children have also been increased. The length of service for the retirement pension for this category of mothers has been reduced by 10 years. Dads are allowed to take up to 14 days of leave in the first 6 months after the birth of a child. Infant mortality statistics is at their lowest level. Every year up to 4000 children are born in Mother and Child reproduction center. Among them, there are babies who were born at 22 weeks and weigh up to a kilogram. Last year about 100 such children were born there. The health of young mothers is under special control. All conditions for the first days of a newborn's life were created there: proper nutrition, temperature, humidity. There are two nurses on constant duty who take care of the babies. Family capital is a proven type of state support for multi-child families. For those who decided to have a big family, there are other bonuses. The modernization and construction of new medical institutions in the country is a permanent process. This type of support for motherhood and childhood has been provided for years.
