The country needs future scientists, strong teachers of universities - it is necessary to look for them among practitioners and rationalizers. This opinion was expressed today by the speaker of the Upper House of Parliament Natalia Kochanova at a meeting of the Expert Advisory Council under the Presidium of the Council of the Republic in Grodno. The participants of the meeting discussed the issues of training scientific personnel for universities of the country, the possibility of attracting young people to science and the development of certain benefits and preferences for young scientists. As Natalya Kochanova said, the development of the country is impossible without training qualified personnel, and it is necessary to pay attention to those who will teach future specialists.
Natalia Kochanova, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus: "Today we see that the average age of the teaching staff at universities is mature enough so it is important that young people who have degrees came to work in our universities as teachers."
Replenishing these faculty members is a serious task, because there are certain trends today, such as the IT sphere, which absorbs many talented young people. The importance of attracting young people to science was also noted by Andrei Ivanets, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic on Education, Science, Culture and Social Development. It is necessary to update and improve the material base of science, and the research itself should be focused on the needs of the economy. Andrei Ivanets, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education, Science, Culture and Social Development of the Council of the Republic: "Today, the scientific sphere ensures the humanitarian and public security of the country. This issue becomes especially relevant in the conditions of sanctions pressure. We can ensure the country's economic development only with our own staff and technology, and without it we will not be able to provide a decent standard of living for our people."
The participants visited the science and technology park of Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno, got familiar with samples of products and talked to the residents (including students). Grodno State University has 12 research and production laboratories. About a thousand foreign students from more than 20 countries study there. More than 11 thousand students study 65 specialities at 12 departments.
