Issues of inclusive education discussed at August pedagogical conference in Minsk
The traditional August pedagogical conference was held in Minsk. The tasks on approaches to quality and affordable education for everybody were defined. An important aspect is the development of inclusive education. More than half of our schools are equipped with elements of barrier-free environment. Today in the country there are over 170 thousand children with disabilities, almost a quarter of them receive education on an inclusive basis. In general, the coverage of early correctional and developmental assistance and education for such children is much higher.
Andrei Ivanets, Minister of Education of Belarus:
Our early help coverage is 99.9%, it's a very high coverage. Today 60-65% of institutions are provided with barrier-free environment, and the new version of the Code, which comes into force on September 1, also defines an inclusive education with all the necessary conditions.
The innovations of this year concern not only the organization of the educational process, but also its quality. Increased attention to civic, patriotic, spiritual and moral education of young people.
