In 2023, the North Atlantic Alliance plans to increase its response forces in Eastern Europe from 40 to 300 thousand soldiers.
"The deployment of 300,000 troops in Eastern Europe in 2023, as well as the increase in the Polish armed forces to 300,000 soldiers, will certainly make Belarus and Russia take measures in response. The Union State has options to ensure its security," military analyst Igor Chibisov commented.
The military analyst says that for Belarus and Russia, the strengthening of NATO forces means nothing good, with increased defense budgets being quite a serious burden on the economy. The increase in military spending must be economically justified, especially at a time when Russia is conducting a special military operation in Ukraine.
"In terms of the number of troops and weapons, neither the army of Russia nor Belarus is oriented to confront NATO, but I am sure the countries of the alliance are not ready to go to war with us. On paper the bloc declares high figures, but achieving them in reality is the problem. This is a matter of time and money," said Igor Chibisov.
