Development of Minsk and metropolitan agglomeration in center of attention

23 декабря 2018

Over the past two five-year periods the capital has grown annually by 16-17 thousand inhabitants. However, our metropolis can function comfortably and effectively with a population of no more than 2 million people. In terms of population density, we have long been ahead of many European capitals. If such a dynamic growth is not stopped today, then a transport and environmental disaster may hang over the city tomorrow.

Satellite cities are the solution. Not only transport communication, housing, engineering networks and social infrastructure are needed there, but also new jobs.

But, despite the fact that the state program for the development of satellite cities has been in operation for about 10 years, the only house for Minsk residents appeared in Smolevichi. For officials, this task remains unresolved.

Increasingly, the city stops at 10-point traffic jams. The President demands to make a city comfortable for people. The subway should unload the traffic. By 2020, 4 new subway stations of the third line will be opened.

Every day, several thousand tons of garbage are collected in the city. The immediate goal is to recycle at least half of the municipal waste.
