A Minsk school was named after American Ruth Waller, Secretary of the UN humanitarian mission. Ruth Waller arrived in our country in 1946 on a humanitarian mission and sacrificed her own life to save three Belarusian children who were sinking in the lake. She got ill with meningitis and died in Minsk despite the efforts of doctors. Ruth Waller is the only representative of an international organization, buried in Belarus.

In addition, Helen Clark was awarded the Order of Francis Skaryna for her significant contribution to the development of cooperation between Belarus and the United Nations for comprehensive rehabilitation and sustainable development of the regions affected by Chernobyl accident.
