All kinds of transplant operations are performed in our country. The first transplant operation was carried out in Belarus in 1970! Academician Nikolai Savchenko from the 4th City Hospital transplanted a kidney. Since then, Belarus has carried out some three thousand operations.
In 2008, after the adoption of the amendments to the law on transplantation, a new era began in the domestic medicine.
Oleg Rummo, the head of the Center of organ and tissue transplantation performed the liver transplant for the first time in the history of Belarus. Our surgeons are able to perform any operation, and people come to us today from a dozen of countries for a chance of the second life. Moreover, all our doctors often teach Western colleagues. For example, in September the leading hepatologists from Europe and the CIS have come to us for a medical conference.
