The nation will bid farewell to Vladimir Makei on November 29. A funeral ceremony for the minister of foreign affairs of Belarus will be held at the Central House of Officers. The ceremony is scheduled to start at 10 am. Vladimir Makei will be buried in the Eastern cemetery of the capital.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the government, heads of ministries and departments of our country, the foreign ministers of Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Cuba, Turkey, Armenia, Iran, Venezuela, Poland and other countries expressed their condolences to Vladimir Makei.
Deep condolences were sent by the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the OSCE, and the Secretary of State of the Union State, noting Vladimir Makei's merits in strengthening Russian-Belarusian relations and enhancing Belarus' position in the international arena and the Eurasian region.
Vladimir Makei died suddenly at the age of 64. He had served his country for almost three decades. Since 1993, he had served in the diplomatic service, was an assistant to the President and headed the Administration of the President of Belarus. Since 2012, he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
