29 августа 2019

Minsk will again become a global negotiating platform. Next week the Belarusian capital will host an international high-level conference on countering terrorism. About 60 delegations from fifty countries will come to the forum. The joint Belarus-UN event was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Directorate. The conference will logically continue the international high-level meeting held in Minsk under the auspices of the OSCE in October 2018. The purpose of the forum will be to discuss multilateral efforts and develop solutions at the global, regional and national levels to combat terrorists and terrorist groups in the context of greater accessibility and increasing complexity of the technologies used. The use of new technologies and artificial intelligence by terrorists will be considered as well.

The participation of the OSCE Secretary General, the head of the UN Counter-Terrorism Directorate, as well as representatives of the leadership of the UN secretariat and structures, the CSTO, UNESCO, the European Union, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is planned.
