By Alexander Horovets: Minsk is accepting congratulations on its 950th anniversary. Festive atmosphere is felt everywhere in the city.
An international aeronautical balloon festival is held at Minsk-1 airport. At the moment a grand show of singing fountains starts in Victory Park. On Saturday everyone will be able to taste a huge birthday cake weighing more than 2.5 quintals. After that, Minsk residents and guests of the city will be able to watch a reconstruction of the Battle on the Nemiga River in 1067 including knight battles, horse fights, and even storming the fortress. In total, more than 80 cultural, sports and entertainment events will take place in Minsk.
A center of Chinese culture and writing was opened today in the 12th Minsk school.
The students of BSUIR received a gift as well. The country’s first business incubator was opened in the university. Now students can implement startups without leaving a classroom. The new building is equipped with a hall for video communication for distance education and online lectures, which can be conducted by teachers from other countries.
At 20.00 a vocal-instrumental show will start at the Sports Palace. The festive program will finish with a grand 20-minute fireworks show. It starts an hour before midnight.
The Minsk half-marathon will start on Sunday at 10.00. 30 thousand people will run the distances 5, 10 and 21 kilometers.
