Solemn event on the occasion of proclamation of independence of Venezuela held in Minsk

Today Venezuela celebrates the national holiday, the Independence Day. Traditionally, a military parade will be organized in Caracas. President Alexander Lukashenko on behalf of the Belarusian people and himself personally congratulated the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro and the citizens of this country on the Independence Day. Minsk and Caracas are strategic partners, the Belarusian leader emphasized.

José Joaquin Boggiano Pericchi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Venezuela to Belarus:

"Today we celebrate the Independence Day of Venezuela, and two days ago you celebrated your Independence day. Our countries are similar. Both Belarus and Venezuela value their independence and their sovereignty. And both countries are for peace without wars and conflicts, for respect for the right of peoples to self-determination."

The solemn event on the occasion of the 207th anniversary of the proclamation of Venezuela's Independence was held in Minsk, in the square named after Simon Bolivar. Representatives of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, diplomatic corps, students and Venezuelan cadets of the Military Academy of Belarus took part in it.
