Solemn ceremony held in Minsk to start construction of national football stadium and swimming pool of international standards

The facilities will be built at the expense of the Chinese side, as part of the technical and economic assistance line between China and Belarus. This decision was reached at the highest level during the meeting between Alexander Lukashenko and the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping.

Future facilities will impress with their size. The stadium, which will take the place between Partizansky Prospekt and Vaneeva and Dolgobrodskaya Streets, will accommodate 33 000 fans. The arena will be able to host qualifying matches of the European Championship, the World Cup and even a match for the UEFA Super Cup. The facility will correspond to the 4th-highest category of the European Union of Football Associations. The stadium will be designed in the style of national symbols that represent the friendship between Belarus and China.

The pool’s area will be over 7 hectares. The facility will be built between Domashevskaya, Kalvariyskaya and Kharkovskaya Streets. It will correspond to all the requirements of the International Swimming Federation, which means it will be able to host planetary forums for all water sports. The complex is divided into zones for competitions, recreation, warm-up and training. It can accommodate more than 6 000 people. 

The symbolic ribbon was cut today at the Dynamo Stadium by Chinese Ambassador Tsui Tsimng and first Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov. The stadium will become a symbol of friendship between Belarus and China.

Construction of social housing, therapeutic building of Minsk Central District Hospital, student accommodation, projects in the Great Stone and 2 sports facilities will be included into the city’s infrastructure.

China helps in construction of football arenas in Africa, such facilities were built in Angola and Tanzania. The list includes Congo and Uganda. $120 million are expected to be spent on the stadium. Dynamo Stadium is more designed for the athletics, rather than for holding football matches. The construction period is 40 months. The pool is planned to be built in 3 years.
