The information about the release of radionuclides at the plant does not correspond to reality, says BelTA with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

"The information published on Lithuanian resources is false. To make sure of that, one can only look through the data of online monitoring of radiation background in the area of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Anyone can do this at the site of the plant. The map clearly shows that the radiation situation is normal, with no excesses, indicating safe and reliable operation of BelNPP," stressed the press service.

The Ministry of Energy stated that the plant is operating normally, while the first unit is operating at nominal capacity, the second unit is still working to develop the reactor capacity within the phased program.

The data on radiation conditions are analyzed both at the plant site itself and in the monitored area - at radiation monitoring stations. Information about the current values of gamma radiation dose rate is also displayed on information boards in the settlements of Vornyany, Podoltsy, Rymdyuny, Goza, Markuny, Chernishki, Olkhovka, and Svir. BelNPP regularly exchanges data on the radiation situation with the state agencies and departments concerned.

Belarusian nuclear power plant with two reactors VVER-1200 with a total capacity of 2400 MW is built on the Russian project NPP-2006, an evolutionary NPP with water-water reactors (VVER) of the third generation. They have improved technical and economic indicators. Their main feature is a unique combination of active and passive safety systems.
