A new church in memory of the heroic past of the defenders of Mogilev was consecrated yesterday. It became part of the "Buinichskoe Field" memorial, where the German army was held back on the outskirts of the regional center by the Red Army and the townspeople in 1941. Historians called this defense the second Brest Fortress. The parishioners helped in the construction of the church, which is named after John the Baptist.

Archpriest Nikolai Ostapchuk, Dean of the Mogilev District Church District: "This is a memorial church, in which there will be a constant prayer for all who, "laid down their souls for their own friends", for all those who defended our homeland during the years of hard times, defended against the German invaders."

The new church in Buinichy became a gift to the city residents to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus.
