Long-lost relics of first state museum of Belarus returned to Historical Museum

21 января 2021
In more than 70 years, the experts collected and restored over a hundred symbols of Jewish culture: from rarities of Belarusian synagogues to ritual details of Hanukkah. They were actually stolen from Belarus during the Great Patriotic War. Now, most of the exhibits are held in the Great Patriotic War Museum (things were transferred there after returning from Germany), and more than twenty exhibits were donated from private collectors.

Part of the pre-war fund is also held  in the Israel Museum. From there, they sent a photo of the amulet with the stamps of the Belarusian State Museum and several other cult items. After the opening of the borders, they plan to continue negotiations on the relics return.
