The topic of refugees from Ukraine was discussed today by representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the UN. In this matter, Belarus does not hesitate to provide legal and humanitarian assistance to all those coming from the Ukrainian territory.
For example, citizens of Ukraine submitted over 3,000 applications for temporary residence in Belarus, and over 1,700 applications for permanent residence. Since February 24, almost 2,000 Ukrainians have applied for refugee status or subsidiary protection.
Today, Alexei Begun, head of the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said that an online platform was being prepared. A list of organizations that provide assistance to those coming from the neighboring country will be published. The project is scheduled to start in November. It is aimed at minimizing the bureaucratic red tape.
