6 мая 2017

The memory of the Great Victory consolidates society to overcome global challenges and threats, as stated in the Belarusian President’s congratulatory message to compatriots on the eve of Victory Day.

Alexander Lukashenko expressed special gratitude to veterans, stressing that the names of the millions of soldiers and homefront workers who defended their beloved Motherland will always be remembered in Belarus.

The Great Patriotic War Museum has held an event to honor the veterans of Minsk’s Central district. The war invalids, homefront workers and Leningrad siege survivors received congratulations from Head of the Central district administration Igor Buzovsky and People’s Artist of Belarus Anatoly Yarmolenko.

The meeting launched Victory Day celebrations in the Central district. Concerts and honoring ceremonies will take place at the city’s main venues - the Palace of Sports and Minsk Hero City Stele.

Minsk’s Central district alone is home to 300 Great Patriotic War veterans.
