Belarus sums up results of socio-economic development for 2019

The results of the country's socio-economic development are being summed up at the Palace of Independence. Alexander Lukashenko, Council of Ministers, Presidential Administration, governors discussed financial indicators of 2019. The Five-year Plan comes to an end. The Head of the State noted the increase by 6% in salaries and pensions, by 1/3 in gold and foreign exchange reserves. Inflation was reduced to minimum indicators, it is below 5%. 

The key problems that hold back the opportunities of the Belarusian economy are being eliminated too slowly. The President criticized the work of the government in foreign markets. Exports were unsatisfactory in 2019. The GDP grew only due to domestic demand. The efficiency of the public sector, as well as the equal development of the regions were discussed. There should be no contradictions in terms of income and the quality of life of people, according to the President. There are concerns about the government’s proposals on the Program for the Socio-Economic Development of Belarus until 2025.
