Belarus plans to create National Association of Local Government

12 декабря 2018

This was stated by Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich at a working meeting with leading experts of the Council of Europe. Issues of improving the work of local governments were the main topic of the meeting. Experts from England, Denmark, Bulgaria, Serbia and other countries came to share their experience with Belarusian managers. It is assumed that the transfer of greater powers to local governments will enable initiative local residents to participate more actively in the life of districts, towns and cities. In the future, the most talented national managers will replenish the country's personnel reserve.

Two associations of local Councils of Deputies have already been created in Belarus - in Grodno and Mogilev regions. In the future, the successful experience of these pilot zones is planned to be transferred to the whole country. A conference on the formation of the National Association of Local Government will take place in April 2019 in Minsk.
