The updated Land Code allows legitimizing squatters, BelTA informs, referring to the words of Sergei Kostrov, Head of the Main Department for Land Regulation, Land Management and Land Cadastre of the State Property Committee of Belarus.
Sergei Kostrov noted that a number of provisions of the updated Land Code have already been in force since September 1. One of them is the possibility for citizens to buy land for private ownership or lease with payment of rent at a reduced cost. "The law defines the corresponding coefficients. Coefficient 0,8 is applied to land plots, which are located in Minsk and regional centers. A coefficient of 0.5 applies to the provision of land plots in other areas. Thus, today a citizen may apply to the local authorities and the land plot will be given to him as private property with a reduction factor," said Sergei Kostrov.
Another important norm concerns the so-called land amnesty. According to Sergei Kostrov, it will help to solve a number of issues that for a long time could not be solved or required the participation of the head of state. "This norm also came into force on September 1. Citizens will have an opportunity to legalize the squat land plots, parts of these land plots if certain criteria are met. This norm also allows to register land plots to a horticultural association or its member for actual use without making corresponding changes to the project of organization of territory development. But there are a number of certain conditions. One of them is that the Horticultural Association must be established before this rule comes into force", - said Sergei Kostrov
