Session of the section "Legislation of the Union State: current state and main guidelines for further convergence" took place within the Forum of Regions in Grodno. The dialogue participants discussed the unification of the two countries' legislation. Active work in this direction is already underway; the relevant plan has been adopted. The participants of the meeting noted that the transition to the new legal reality within the Union State will become an important factor for unprecedented sanctions, political and economic pressure. And the identity of the legal regulation will make the conditions for cooperation in various areas clear.
Sergei Sivets, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus:
It's very important to synchronize our movement in terms of harmonization and unification of legislation. Because we have different lawmaking processes. And of course, in order to have someone not in the status of the master and someone as the slave, so that we make decisions in parallel, we need to use the potential of the same model legislation, which will allow us to bring a single platform.
After the end of the section session were adopted recommendations to the governments of the two countries: to intensify the work on the unification of the legislation. Also there was signed an agreement on friendship and cooperation between the city of Minusinsk (Krasnoyarsk Region) and the city of Ivie (Grodno Region).
