A decree on amendments to the traffic rules has been signed by the head of state. The document was adopted to improve the culture of road users, reduce the number of accidents and encourage the use of electric vehicles. The developers believe that the practical implementation of the measures will improve road safety in the country and make participation in the traffic more comfortable.
What's new in the Belarusian traffic rules?
The following changes in the traffic rules are waiting for the Belarusians after the entry into force of the amendments:
Speed limits on highways: 120 km/h for most of the vehicles, 100 km/h for buses.
New sign: zone with maximum speed of 30 km/h.
It is forbidden to carry passengers known to be intoxicated on a motorcycle (except on a trailer) and on a moped.
For electric scooters, gyroscooters, monocycles, Segways i a generalized concept of "personal mode of transportation" is introduced, and you can ride them on the bike path, sidewalk or roadside no faster than 25 km/h.
Cyclists are not required to dismount.
From May 25 to June 5 and from August 25 to September 5 drivers are required to turn on dipped beam during daylight hours.
The changes will take effect six months after their official publication.
