The Scientists of the Belarusian State University have developed the first drug in Belarus to accelerate the regeneration of damaged tissues, BelTA reports.

The drug is a bioabsorbable plate for external use. Its sphere of application in medicine is very wide. "Foscelantan" will accelerate the healing of wounds in boils, abscesses, carbuncles, fistulas, thermal burns and trophic ulcers. In addition, the drug will be indispensable for the treatment of surgical stitches, incised, puncture wounds and abrasions, prevention of infectious complications.

Earlier, such pharmaceutical preparations were not produced in our country. The application of such medicine for surgery will make it possible to ensure independence from import supplies, increase efficiency of treatment and reduce time of patients' stay in hospitals of outpatient clinics and hospitals.

The developers of the drug are a team of scientists of the Research Institute of Physical and Chemical Problems of the Belarusian State University. The development of the unique drug has been held for the last six years. At this stage it has passed pre-clinical tests, in the near future, the clinical studies will be held. The drug is planned to be produced in the Scientific and Technological Park of the BSU.
