By Yan Pashkevich: These days, the Belarusian capital is receiving congratulations from a huge family of cities from all over the world. Minsk has as many as 23 twin towns around the globe – from Great Britain to Japan. Three of them are in China.
The last seat of the last ruler of the Qing dynasty – the City of Changchun – has been Minsk’s twin town for more than 25 years now. Both cities are the mechanical heart of their countries’ industries. It was in Changchun that the first car in China was assembled. As a sign of friendship, two exclusive cars were assembled here especially for Belarus.
Changchun University has over 70 thousand students. In addition, the city has the largest in China video laboratory – the Institute of Animation.
Earlier this year, Frunzensky District of Minsk was twinned with the city of Jilin.
