Exactly 80 years ago, in 1942, a terrible tragedy occurred in Borki. The German executioners wiped out the entire village and six other villages. The operation was called "Potsdam" and was revenge on the inhabitants for their contact with the partisans. Women and children were burned and shot. Only 38 people survived out of more than 2,000 villagers. Today, flowers were laid at the memorial in Borki. The participants of the rally, including the patriotic project "Songs of the native land", honored the memory of the victims of fascism with a moment of silence.
Alexander Kazeko, Chairman of the Mogilev regional branch of the Union of Writers of Belarus:
This is a vivid example of the genocide of the entire Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War. I think everyone should realize it. Look at what is going on in the world, what is going on in Western Europe, America, in Ukraine. This is inadmissible.
Alena Yaroshuk, teacher of Mogilev State College of Arts:
Although the events took place a long time ago, you feel it with all your skin, you feel with all the fibers of your soul - how terrible it was. I want our young people to always remember that it happened. So that it never happened again.
