Belarus continues to monitor drug prices. Representatives of the Council of the Republic monitor the pharmacy chains in their regions in order to prevent unreasonable increases in the cost of medicines. Starting from January, the 10% VAT rate is applied to the drugs in Belarus. Now the government agencies are developing a mechanism to reduce the impact of the rates' growth on prices.
Anatoly Shastny, member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus: "Now the pharmacies have reduced the price markup by more than 10% . That is, medicines have not become more expensive after the introduction of VAT".
