Belarus has spoken against the resolution condemning the human rights situation in Crimea, adopted by the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly. Belarus’ stance has been supported by 22 countries, including China, Cuba, Algeria, Russia, India, Iran and Singapore. Another 76 countries have abstained. However, the draft resolution has been adopted by the majority. The Ukrainian side has strongly reacted to the Belarusian delegation’s vote. In this regard, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that "Belarus’ stance on Ukraine has not changed whatsoever. The procedure for considering the human rights issue by the United Nations is irrelevant to the issue of Ukraine’s territorial integrity. Belarus has had firsthand experience of how destructive and unjust the mechanism of country-specific resolutions is and firmly believes that their adoption is a road to nowhere."
