Krzysztof Tolwinski: Belarusian model of agriculture turned out to be the most resistant to challenges

Despite the provocative policy pursued by the Polish government with regard to Belarus and Russia, there are Poles who want good neighborly cooperation. For example, in the opinion of Polish politician Krzysztof Tolvinski, the Belarusian model of agriculture proved to be the most resistant to modern challenges.

Krzysztof Tolwinski: politician (Poland):

“There has never been such a tense, negative relationship that we are facing today in our history until now. Therefore, we want to show the citizens of Belarus that Poles also have their own political opinion, that there are Poles who want normal good-neighbourly, brotherly cooperation with Belarus. I call it the paranoid and provocative policy pursued by the Polish government in relation to Belarus and the Russian Federation.

I am interested in the agricultural policy of the Republic of Belarus, its model of agriculture. I do not hide the fact that a few years ago I was a bit worried: Would you succeed at all?  Would you be able to cope with such a specific model in the whole of Europe, would it have an effect? Would you be able to use it? Today this test, this trial period, has ended, and it turned out that this model of the Belarusian state in the field of agriculture turned out to be the most resistant to the challenges we have today. That is, you have agricultural raw materials, processing, which is in the hands of the Belarusian state, and trade, over which you have your influence. And you have a completely different situation. You're dealing with it, especially now, when you're fighting speculative prices.”

Krzysztof Tolwinski, politician (Poland):

“We have given away trade completely. And whoever has trade in market relations decides everything. Your production doesn't matter, because if I have trade in my hands, I decide how much, where, when and what you have to produce. If you give trade, then give your independence.

I am very happy of that because now, in the times of such challenges facing the whole Europe, the whole world, we can see the advantages of your model. And we want to do the same.”
