Russian Orthodox Church to cease relations with Patriarch of Constantinople

Just an hour ago, the meeting of the Holy Synod ended in Minsk. For the first time in the history of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Synod was held on Belarusian soil. The meeting of the hierarchs was held in a closed format for the press. It was chaired by Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill. The meeting lasted for more than 6 hours. All this time, journalists were waiting for the announcement of the decision of the Holy Synod.

As the cleric noted, parishioners should react calmly to such a decision. In practical terms, this means that joint church services with the Constantinople Patriarchate will not be held.
