Timely payment of salaries to Belarusians under strict control of Prosecutor's Office

14 ноября 2022

This year, thanks to the intervention of the department, several thousand workers around the country were able to get their hard-earned money. 63 companies have paid arrears of wages in excess of 8 million rubles in Minsk alone. However, 14 organizations still have debts.

It should be said that in such situations the final outcome is usually positive. At the same time, one of the reasons for non-payment of wages is often the disruption of supply chains due to the sanctions imposed on Belarus. At the same time, finding new ways for managers becomes mandatory - after all, the wages are a social standard. It should be said that there are certain difficulties not only in the regions, but also in the capital.

Since the beginning of the year, 84 warrants have been issued by Minsk city prosecutor's office, 73 heads of enterprises have been officially warned. About 80 more people were brought to justice under an administrative article. One more person was brought to criminal responsibility.

Pavel Eliseyev, Deputy Head of the Department of the General Prosecutor's Office of Belarus:

On the initiative of the Prosecutor General's Office, in 2021 the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection developed a mechanism to identify small business organizations that have overdue wage arrears. In general, up to 90% of the total number of such enterprises-debtors were small and micro-enterprises that were not obliged to provide reports to the statistical authorities. To fulfill the instructions of the Head of State on ensuring timely payment of wages to the employees, the Prosecutor General's Office organized the proper interaction with the regional and Minsk city departments of the State Labor Inspectorate Department and the Social Protection Fund of the Population.

Information about violations is received by the Prosecutor's Office from the Department of State Labor Inspection, as well as from the Fund for Social Protection of Population. Thus, in January-September this year, Minsk Department of the Social Security Fund informed prosecutors about more than a thousand organizations that failed to pay or were in no hurry to give money to their employees.
