The population of Europe suffers the most from the results of the sanctions choice. This winter, they will have to choose between heating and food, as they simply do not have the money for all vital and necessary services. This opinion was shared by Andrey Starikov, a political scientist and head of the Baltnews agency.
Andrey Starikov, political scientist, head of Baltnews agency: The energy crisis in Europe has already taken shape. It’s only beginning, it is felt by some households, but it is already clear that it will be bad. It will be bad in autumn and in winter. The political elites of the European Union are already in a state of panic. Although officially it's still summer. Nevertheless, the expectations are not that pleasant and the expectations are such that it will be very, very difficult. $3500 for 1,000 cubic meters of gas on European exchanges is far from being the limit. This value is already destabilizing the European economy, but we can expect $4,000 and $5,000, and so on. The consequences will be really disastrous. The residents of the European Union will have to choose either to starve or to freeze, because it is impossible to meet all the needs, both food and energy at the same time. Infrastructure will suffer, there will be dark streets. Eastern Europe is already reducing the degree of lighting of their streets, simply turning off the lights. In autumn and winter, the households lights will be off as well - this is inevitable.
