In the village of Borki, in June 1942, the Nazi punitive squad shot and burned alive nearly 2,000 civilians. Today, the memorial complex "In memory of the burnt villages of Mogilev Region" set up at the site of the tragedy became the center of commemorative events. Representatives of public youth and veterans' organizations honoured the memory of the victims with a moment of silence. Flower wreaths were laid to the granite plaques with the names of the massacred villages.

In memory of those killed in the village of Borki, a prayer service was held in the local chapel. Also, starting this year, researchers will begin painstaking work with the archives to establish the names and surnames of civilians massacred during the years of war.
