Statement by the Council of the Republic
"The Presidium of the Council of the Republic notes the tendentious politicized nature of the resolution of the European Parliament on the situation in Belarus, which constitutes open interference in the internal affairs of the country. The resolution denies the obvious: the confident victory of the current President of Belarus, confirmed by national and international observers, the attempt to pose minority for the majority, unconstitutional actions and structures are inappropriately supported. The resolution is filled with numerous false statements and assessments, disinformation and overt threats."
Belarusian parliamentarians note that the European Union, instead of dealing with the problems of its countries: the fall of the economies, the increase in the number of unemployed, the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, thousands of protest actions brutally suppressed by repressive bodies, is trying to create a split in Belarusian society, destabilize the political and economic situation in Belarus.
"We emphasize that the Belarusian people will independently deal with all the issues of the internal life of their country, will continue to work on the evolutionary development of the economy, political system, social and humanitarian spheres. We are ready to expand interaction with our European partners, including parliamentarians, but we will do this on an equal and mutually respectful basis."
