For the ninth day, people whose countries were destroyed by someone else's hypocrisy are trying to survive. Belarus provides all kinds of support, and democratic Europe, which invited them, responds with gas and water cannons.
Poland, hiding behind ephemeral European laws, which they themselves willingly violate, has suddenly got into its posture: refugees must ask for asylum orally or in writing. But they did not explain how to do it. The refugees came to the border, but they were not invited to write their applications, they were surrounded by a cordon of guards and water cannons. Even human rights activists are shocked.
The night in the refugee camp on the Polish border was a serious ordeal for people who had been begging for days to be allowed into the European Union. They slept on the concrete right at the Polish checkpoint without making fires, warmed just by the warmth of their bodies. During this time the Polish side got armed with military personnel, police special forces, water cannons and barbed wire. It was as if they had not destitute people with young children in front of them, but fighting gangs. In the morning there was despair in the eyes of the people who had fled their NATO-ravaged states.
At about 11 o'clock, people, driven to the utmost desperation, came to the Polish barbed wire, hoisted a white flag, wrote posters in broken English and made yet another attempt to get through to the hearts of the Polish people armed with special equipment.
At one point, a water cannon started working from the side of the Polish border. |The soldiers started spraying their tear gas.
Apparently, this was the trigger for today's incident at the border. Further on, the Polish military dealt shortly with the migrants. They threw stun grenades into the crowd, where there were little children, and brought more water cannons. Cold water jets, eye irritating chemicals and helicopters in the sky - all this was used by Poland against unarmed, exhausted people.
The Polish security forces attacked the refugees for more than an hour. Tear gas was blown by the wind a hundred or two meters away. Parents tried to hide their young children in tents and seal them hermetically to save them from the poisonous fumes, which caused coughing and intense burning of the eyes. Those who tried to come closer to the border were knocked down with a strong pressure of water cannon.
The coverage of the situation at the border is possible only from the side of Belarus. Poland impedes the free work of journalists.
Konstantin Prydybaylo, RT correspondent: “As soon as the Polish attack began, they deliberately targeted journalists.”
What happened is an illustration of how a humanitarian disaster can turn into a hot spot. All it takes is one spark. Although, refugees on the Belarusian-Polish border, driven to the utmost desperation, still believe in the humanity of Europeans. After the Polish attack, the camp of these unfortunate people resembled a ship that crashed on a rock and washed ashore.
