Combating extremism and terrorism is more relevant than ever, said General Prosecutor of Belarus Andrei Shved before the board of prosecutor's offices of Belarus and Russia in Brest, BelTA informs.
"The topic of combating extremism and terrorism is more relevant than ever. Those people, committing extremist crimes or related to terrorism, are quite dangerous in any state. I think it should be noted that there can be no forgiveness for such persons in any country of the world. They encroach on the foundations of the constitutional system, the normal, peaceful life of any society, any state," said Andrei Shved.
He noted that today the Parliament will be considering a bill on amnesty, introduced by the head of state and timed to the National Unity Day. "As far as I remember, Article 10 of the bill clearly states that individuals, included in the list of persons who have committed extremist and terrorist crimes, are not covered by this law," added the Prosecutor General.
Brest is currently hosting a meeting of the joint board of General Prosecutor's Offices of Belarus and Russia. Delegations of the two countries are headed by the heads of the departments. At the meeting, the participants discussed the practice of prosecutorial supervision in the field of countering extremist activity.
