Shoigu: NATO weapons in Ukraine are a legitimate target for attack

4 мая 2022
The NATO and US weapons and special equipment in Ukraine must be destroyed. This is Moscow's clear position. According to Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, any NATO transport with weapons or ammunition for the needs of the Ukrainian army will be regarded by Russia as a "legitimate target for destruction". The United States and NATO members continue to pump Ukraine with weapons, proving once again that a speedy resolution of the conflict is not in their interests.

Russia's armed forces are following through on their objectives: Mariupol, the largest industrial and transport hub on the Sea of Azov, is under control of the Russian army.

Sergei Shoigu, Russian Defense Minister:
The remnants of the Ukrainian military group in the territory of the Azovstal metallurgical plant in Mariupol, are securely blocked along the entire perimeter of the plant. Repeated proposals to the nationalists to release civilians and lay down arms with a guarantee of life and dignified treatment in accordance with the norms of international law have been ignored.
