President of Belarus discusses wide range of medical issues

Protecting the health of Belarusians is the work that is being done on all fronts. But the range of topics discussed during the week in the Palace of Independence with the head of the Ministry of Health, was much wider than the situation with the spread of seasonal and non-seasonal infections. Modernization of hospitals and polyclinics, drug safety, doctors' salaries. Back in summer, when appointing Vladimir Karanik to the post of the head of the Ministry of Health, Alexander Lukashenko marked the painful points of the industry. It seems that both the medicine and the minister have passed the test of strength.

But the President had questions about the fairness of drugs price formation, equipment purchase and efficiency of expensive equipment use. Because that's what eventually hits the pockets of ordinary patients. The production of medications will be developed so that there were no problems with drug safety. As for the purchase of imported drugs and equipment, the President is sure: the price issue is fundamental. The change in the procurement system has made it more transparent: prices for some types of equipment were reduced by several times.

Consciousness and correct behavior of Belarusians will help doctors to react more quickly to possible cases of coronavirus infection. This was stated by the Minister of Health.  All patients diagnosed with coronavirus are under constant medical supervision. Their condition is assessed as stable. Note that three people have already been discharged from the hospital, cured of Covid-19.
