Today, the first eco-marathon in Belarus was held in Gomel. The event was organized by the Belarus Athletic Federation to mark International Earth Day and support the idea of careful treatment of nature. The marathon consisted of two races - 42 km and 6 km. The number of participants in the 42 km race was limited to 200 people.

Vadim Devyatovskiy, the head of the Belarus Athletic Federation, said the race is a perfect opportunity to remind people of the beauty of Belarus, as well as of the happy and healthy young people that live here - these are beautiful and positive people who care about their health, because sport is life.

To participate in the marathon, an applicant needed to provide a medical certificate. The winners received cash prizes, medals, and a dinner at one of Gomel’s restaurants.
