55 years ago, Yuri Gagarin made a whole orbit around the Earth on Vostok ship. The flight lasted 108 minutes and opened a new era of space exploration. Since then, April, 12, is celebrated as the Day of Cosmonautics.

Preparation of the human space flight was strictly classified. And now, 55 years later, new facts are discovered. For example, the internal combustion engine, which raised the Vostok ship was created by Belarusian Simon Kozberg.

More than 550 people have visited the outer space after Yuri Gagarin. Three Belarusians are among them: Petr Klimuk, Vladimir Kovalenok and Oleg Novitskiy.
